3 Ways I can help you achieve your New Years resolution
How can I even come up with the 3 ways I can help you achieve your New Years resolutions if I don’t even know what they’re going to be I hear you ask?
Well…a splash of assumptions, a dash of probability and quite a bit of internet stalking! And hey, I’ve got the added help of also being a human who also likes to get the new year off to a good start with a nice set of personal targets!
Now, I’m not a life coach, councillor, bank manager or nutritional advisor but I am a badass soft tissue therapist (Well, I think so!), utter biomechanics nerd and qualified fitness instructor with the addition of being a great listener…I think we have the recipe to smash a good few resolutions!
And if I DONT mention anything here that you can see equating to even an ounce of help to get you smashing the utter cahoonies out of 2018 – then sir, Madame …I challenge you to challenge me! Get in touch to see how I can help!
The first way I can help…
The first of my 3 ways that I can help you achieve your New Years resolutions, is if your resolution in any way relates to doing more exercise or being more active. This may come from previously being active and sustaining an injury, some sort of pain or niggle stopped you as the pain overshadowed the enjoyment, fatigue or illness, simply being too busy or you just never saw anything appealing about the word exercise.
If you’re suffering from residual pain from a previous injury, in most cases I can help eliminate, reduce or manage the pain. If I can’t, trust me I’m not shy in admitting it – but I can help you find the right healthcare professional who can help. Whether that’s referring you for a scan, to see a specialist or introducing you to a chiropractor or osteopath, I will not send you on your merry way and leave you out on your hoof. I have a good relationship with many different chiropractors, osteopaths and physiotherapists and will stick by you until you find exactly who you need.
If it’s fatigue or being too busy, I will help you come up with a bespoke training and treatment plan. We will look at your diary together to understand a foolproof weekly structure to ensure that you stick to your training plan and attend regular soft tissue appointments. Maintenance is just as importat as the exercise it’s self – plus massage forces you to stop and relax. There’s no better way to inspire you to do more for you, than a productive and relaxing remedial massage. You’d be surprised at just how much stress contributes to being tired!
And finally…if you’re just not that into it…We can set small targets off the back of a postural assessment to find out exactly what types of exercise are actually really relevant to ensuring that you are still standing upright without a sore back when you’re 70. That way, it’s less “exercise” and more “old age insurance” that you’ll be mobile, upright and more pain free than the average 70 year old!
The second way I can help…
The second of my 3 ways that I can help you achieve your New Years resolutions is if your resolutions are mindfulness orientated. I can see that many of us are aiming to be kinder to ourselves, meditate more, be less busy, calm down and do more yoga. Which is GREAT! Stress is detrimental at the very least to our health and well being and a lot of that is to do with our busy minds! Stress, depression, anxiety can all contribute to even causing pain, in particular low back pain!
Massage reduces stress levels, has been proven in several controlled studies to contribute to reducing non specific low back pain, or central sensitisation and forced you to stop and be calm and leave your phone alone for an hour! Regular massage cannot be argued with when it comes to relaxing! Now, my “No pain, no gain” crew, massage, my massage treatments in particular use a combination of sports, remedial and holistic techniques to ensure a productive, deep where appropriate but also relaxing experience.
If you want statistics, studies and white papers about the aforementioned I have written a paper on it which I’m happy to share on request!
The third way I can help…
The third of my 3 ways that I can help you achieve your New Years Resolutions is if you are one of those peopl, who like many others spend a lot of time and money on everyone and everything else, and you want to do more for you.
Coming in for treatment is all about you. We work on improving parts of your posture or sports performance, stopping your niggles and headaches, we follow a plan to help you stop and relax at regular intervals without being interrupted. We track and revisit your progress, improvements and mindfulness.
We listen to the music or podcasts you want to listen to, we talk about what you want to talk about and we completely and utterly focus on you!
So, let’s have this weekend, the last few beers, burgers, busy, unorganised schedules, the last moan about not fitting into that dress, the last few struggles to get off the couch or to lift those weighs, the last scoff at the running trainers, the last headache, the last hobble, the last few mornings waking up with a sore back for no reason and then let’s make a change!
Get in touch today, no more procrastinating! Pain isn’t normal. Stress isn’t normal.
