Life is busy.
Often it is too busy for us to have time to really hear what our bodies are trying to tell us.
Warning signs can fade into the background noise of daily life and become normal.
We often don’t prioritise time to be still enough to hear what our body has to say.
This is something I was incredibly guilty of until around this time last year when I started having massage with a great friend and therapist – @om_holisticmassagebristol
She finally shone the light on me and my busy hectic life and asked ‘but when are you still?’ and a huge lightbulb went off in my head…because ultimately the answer was never, apart from when I’m asleep. And in fact, I was so busy at that time, I wasn’t getting more than about 4-5 hours of sleep and pulling all nighters on a weekly basis to get ahead on workload.
As someone who has been chronically busy and running on cortisol fumes, taking time out of my day to stop and do breathwork, meditation or make time for massage when limbs weren’t literally falling off seemed unproductive and like it would end up making me more busy.
In fact the opposite happened, I’ve become more in tune with my body and it’s needs, I am less anxious and able to be more present with the task at hand which enables concentration and makes me more efficient.
I have more energy and better sleep.
Make no mistake, this is still a huge learning curve for someone who came with a built in ‘on’ button – but I have absolutely no regrets about prioritising myself and my body!
