Pain isn’t normal.
WHO WE ARE...
At Elbow Sports Massage in Bristol, we’re therapists who are driven by helping to show people that being in pain, and suffering with discomfort or limited movement is not something you should have to put up with.
Have you been told your pain is just muscular, it’s because you’re getting older, or to stop doing the things you love?
We’re here to show you that you still have options. Whether your problem is sporting related or not, sports massage could still help you.
Are you struggling with issues like lower back pain, tight shoulders, running injuries, persistent muscle pain, or recovery after training? Addressing these problems early with sports massage can prevent them developing into longer-term injuries.
Treatment focuses on the soft tissues that control movement. That may include sports massage, deep tissue work, trigger point therapy, or myofascial techniques depending on what is going on in the body.
The clinic is based in Bridgeyate near Kingswood, serving clients looking for sports massage across Bristol and the surrounding South Gloucestershire area.
WHAT SPORTS MASSAGE CAN HELP WITH
Muscle pain rarely appears out of nowhere. Most of the time it builds up gradually through training, repetitive movement, or spending too many hours in the same position.
Sports massage focuses on the soft tissues that restrict movement and create tension in the body. Treating these areas can improve mobility, reduce discomfort, and help prevent small problems turning into more persistent injuries.
Clients often book sports massage in Bristol for issues such as lower back pain, neck and shoulder tension, tight hips, running injuries, muscle strains, or muscles that have gradually tightened through training or desk work.
Sometimes the painful area isn’t the real source of the problem. Part of the treatment process is identifying which muscles are actually responsible for the restriction and working through those tissues properly.

DRY NEEDLING & MEDICAL ACUPUNCTURE
Dry needling is a technique similar to acupuncture that is used for the treatment of specific trigger points and muscle pain. Medical acupuncture is used to address generalised pain.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A SPORTS MASSAGE?
A sports massage session usually starts with a quick chat about what has been bothering you, and possibly some movement tests to help us identify what is likely causing the problem and what treatment will be most useful.
The treatment itself focuses on the soft tissues that affect how your body moves. That can include sports massage, deeper pressure on tight areas, or working through trigger points that are causing pain elsewhere.
The aim isn’t just to work on the sore spot, it’s to get to the route cause of what is causing the issue, so treatment focuses on restoring normal movement and reducing the tension that built up in the first place.
Finally, your sports massage therapist may give you some rehabilitation exercises, and stretches to do at home to help your recovery.
